Accidental death by firearm is not the danger.
The real ones are (1) suicide by firearms (10x), and (2) homicide by firearms (2-2.5X). The total risk is almost as high as driving a car, and if we calculated risk per hour of usage, guns would be much more dangerous.

There are potential benefits, but not without debates.
There are studies indicate owning guns do not decrease serious injury/fatality rate when homes are invaded by criminals, of course you do not have to believe them.

Do I support the choice of gun ownership? Yes, we should have a choice.
But as a consumer product, gun is totally without any meaning regulations, which resulted in guns being produced and sold with more and more deadly features (semi-automatic firing, high capacity magazines, laser sight, silencers, etc). You should fully understand the risks before you decide to own one at your home. The risks are real, and significant, it is not a trivial matter.
