axioms are good, but not necessary in all cases. the fact that one does not know about Peano's Axioms does not hinder his ability to calculate things like 10^100 + 1.
these axioms are results of formalization, which happened long after people knew how to do arithmetic calculations.
no offence but personally I believe that you yourself knew how to calculate 10^100+1 long before you knew anything about Peano's Axioms.
