is monitored I assume. Hiccup shouldn't be a problem. Sometimes, respiratory difficulty can be perceived as hiccup. Until the patient comes out of coma, little can be done by the family. Prevention of pneumonia is important and putting the patient in semirecumbent position may help if have not done so. As XJ said, providing stimulation as early as possible is also very important and family can play a big role there.
