There's really no differenciation between US or UK companies as far as defense projects concerned. There're quite a lot joint development effort in this field. As I can remember, a UK company provides one of the front-line jet engine to F-35 or some other US jet fighters.

Abviously the journalist who articulated the report is not an expert in C4ISR field, but he did smell something :-) I can't speak more though.
