回答: How do you define a public figure ? 由 jxh 于 2004-12-29, 15:37:21:
maybe it is just the problem of expression in English. but, anyhow, a public figure in my opinion is situational. if one makes a public speech, he or she should be held accountable for what is said in the speech and de facto subjects him/herself to public opinions. this rule of publicity not only applies to the immediate context of making the speech, but also after the speech event. as mentioned in one of my earlier threads, the publicity principle is such that the public figure is to submit relevant information to piblic scrutiny, at least by a legitimate body of publics. therefore, part of your disagreement is not so much about whether the Lius are public figures or not, but rather, about the legitimacy of critizing them.
