Non-native deer at Pt. Reyes Seashore get eviction notices
Park Service hopes to clear Marin Co. by 2020
The days of non-native deer populations in the Point Reyes National Seashore may be numbered.
The National Park Service has developed a plan to rid the Marin County park of axis and fallow deer — which have run roughshod over the park's fragile ecosystem — by a combination of contraception and hunting. All would be gone by the year 2020 under the plan.
The animals eat 5 percent to 10 percent of their body weight a day, taking in a ton of forage a day, food that otherwise would be available to native deer. Rabbits, rodents and others animals are affected, too.
处理方法好像是结扎,猎杀不够人道。
