lonibaloney: Now that your daughter just had Xiao Procedure in China, you might have received the same response from Beaumont, like the ones on this thread:

In China, this procedure is now standard of care. Dr. Xiao has taught this procedure to surgeon's at all the major hospitals in China.

>> This surgery is now standard of care in China. Dr. Xiao has taught this procedure to surgeons all over China. It is done everyday in hospitals in China. If you really want to have this procedure done on your son, we would suggest going to China. It would be a lot closer for you and would not require 10 visits (as it is not a research study there). If you are at all interested in going to China, I would be happy to forward your information to Dr. Xiao. I have done this with other families.

What they might have told you, and what they indeed told other members of this forum, is a lie. This procedure is NOT standard of care in China. No major hospital except the only one local private hospital, where Dr. Xiao has 30% shares, performs this procedure.

You can contact Beaumont or Dr. Xiao to see if they dare to repeat this lie after the fact being discovered by Chinese media and XYS netters. This could be the easiest one that you can verify.

There're more.

For example, XYS netters just found yesterday that xiao's conference report, cited by his review paper published in a prestigious journal, does not exist in the literature, in which he claims 87 or 88% success rate. Moreover, the success rate and the number of patients mentioned in that paper are either exaggerated or fabricated. XYS netters provided evidence supporting their findings.

If you would like, you or your lawyer can request them to provide you the report [25] cited by this paper:
CG Xiao. Reinnervation for Neurogenic Bladder: Historic Review and Introduction of a Somatic-Autonomic Reflex Pathway Procedure for Patients with Spinal Cord Injury or Spina Bifida. Eur Urol. 2006 Jan;49(1):22-8. Epub 2005 Nov 2.

I'm very sorry telling you the truth.

P.S. If you have received such response from Beaumont, I strongly suggest you to keep it in a safe place in case one day you want to do what those Chinese patients are doing.
