How early in age do you start to wonder if you are being watched

On the way to school my 6 year old son asked me if this is true:

we are in TV, the whole world is in TV, the whole universe is in TV, and we are being watched by a giant.

He likes universe, star, galaxy kind of things, but never watched any movie or TV that give above idea (or not?), I am wondering if it is a natural thought that we sometimes think we are in a miniature universe and there are layers of layers of similar universe at different scale.

I know, not a good topic for Friday, especially for the beginning of the long weekend.
